Twin Palms Cottage is a second unit that it attached and hidden-away behind Twin Palms, andd thoroughly private. It is the smaller more intimate house, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. We love the feel of this space; its many windows surround you with a private tropical oasis of palm trees and lush greenery.

The backyard has a wonderful hammock strung between two tall palms trees, a private tiki gazebo and a smattering of lawn chairs. It's totally separate and private from the front unit, Twin Palms. There's a separate sun patio off one of the bedrooms. As you can see from the photos at right, lovely French doors welcome you when you arrive.

Inside the cottage, there's a great room with an open kitchen.

The kitchen has been completely redone. We've updated the appliances to all stainless steel since we took this photo, including a Bosch side-by-side fridge and an excellent, quiet dishwasher. It features a large, deep sink, bamboo countertops and a custom-made counter. You'll also find an  in-sink disposal and other standard small appliances. We have lots of pans and cooking utensils, and you'll find spices, oils and other cooking ingredients available for your use.

.

In the rest of the main room, there's wonderfully classic bamboo and rattan furniture. A huge, sturdy coffee table offers a place to relax, play games or eat. A 37" LED flat panel TV with Blu-ray player (with Netflix access) is hidden in a beautiful, dark wood cabinet imported from Indonesia. The cottage features tiled floors throughout. The bedrooms are separated by sliding wood French doors. A bathroom is just off the main room, the second new master bath features dual vanity sinks and a wonderfully large walkin shower with riverrock floor and marble tile. In the photo below, you can see the "Garden"bedroom at the far end. The windows look out onto a private wall of greenery. You will know you are in Florida when you fall asleep to the sound of swaying palms, filtered light of the sunset, or a low roar of surf off in the distance.

This is a view of the main room standing in between the sliding French doors. From here you can see the Indonesia cabinet, the French doors looking out into the yard, and the dining room to the far left.

The dining room is a wonderful place to hang out. It's not big, but the table is especially versatile. From the table you can look out over the entire backyard.

Out the doors, you can see the hammocks and the trunks of the many palms in the backyard. You can also see hints of the gazebo outside. In January 2007, we placed a paver patio under the gazebo. Large palms line the back yard, giving it privacy.

Next, we move into the bedrooms. There are two bedrooms, one we call the "Garden" bedroom because you can see nothing but greens and palms outside the windows. It's the place we always sleep when we stay in this part of the house. The other room has a separate entrance to a private backyard patio.

The Levelor blinds come down inside the window to provide privacy, yet you can still get a glimpse of what's going on outside. From here, you can see the base of a massive area palm outside the window. A large oriental rug occupies the floor. (Since the photo at left was  taken, we have updated the linens and also included a beautiful rattan headboard with matching armoire and dresser. (We provide all linens.) That's why in the image below, you'll see different linens on the bed. It's the same room.

The garden bedroom has two wall-sized windows. The other window is below. This picture provides a good sense of how green and private the surroundings are in the cottage.

The other bedroom is the Patio bedroom. It's a bit larger. It's also very bright, with a full set of sliding glass doors. Both bedrooms have brand new Sealy Posturpedic beds, 300+ thread count sheets and down duvets and pillows.

This is one view of the Patio bedroom. We also called it the "Reader's Bedroom." We have dozens of books on all kinds of subjects. It is a good-sized room with a new, comfy queen bed. We have 400 count sheets on the bed and a quality duvet with tropical weight down comforter. There are two armoires for plenty of place to stow your clothes.

Here's another view. You can see the patio doors here. This patio gets lots of sun. It's a great place to hang out to work on your tan, take a nap or read the paper.

The settee in this room is a great place to have a quiet moment reading or just contemplating the lush palm trees outside. Outside the door, there's a small lemon tree in the yard. A pair of lounge chairs wait outside on the patio.

There are two bathrooms in the house. To the left, you'll see the large, newly remodeled bathroom replete with a large shower with riverrock floor and marble tile. It has a wonderful"rainshower" faucet. This bathroom can serve either of both bedrooms. If you forget something, don't worry. We have extra toothbrushes, shampoo, soap and even sewing kits stowed under the double sinks.

This bathroom has a basin and toilet and is just off the living area. There's also an outdoor shower on the deck for washing off after the beach, or just taking a refreshing shower outside.

There's a private, spacious yard with lush landscaping, a BBQ area, a Tiki Gazebo with dining table and a hammock strung between two palm trees.

Another view, from the side show off the tiki gazebo and the BBQ area. There's a brand-new Webber grill for outdoor cooking. .

This yard is separate from the yard for the front of the house. The French doors can open wide on the deck, making it feel as if the yard and the cottage are all one space -- great for grilling and enjoying the lovely island weather.

Last, but not least, my favorite view in the cottage -- from the hammock outside.
